Gastro Wine, Beer & Spirits area gathers restauranteurs, sommeliers and buyers to taste wines, beers, ciders and spirits. Waiter of the Year is the Finnish championship for professional waiters and waitresses. Competitors get to show their skills in practice, as they are serving guests with culinary delights prepared by semifinalists of the national Chef of The Year contest held at the same time at Gastro Helsinki. Both competitions aim to create even more appreciation for the trade, and encourage the development of professional skill in the field. Also competition for best school meal and Master School Competition are taking place in Gastro Helsinki. The Master School Competition aims to highlight all the restaurant schools in Finland and the chef students studying at them.
